What is a Facade?

In the context of a city council meeting, the term “facade” typically refers to the front exterior face of a building. In discussions related to urban planning or development proposals, city council members might consider the architectural design and aesthetics of building facades as they review applications for new construction or renovations within the city.

Beyond its literal architectural meaning, facade can also refer to a superficial appearance or impression that conceals the true nature of something. In the context of municipal governance, discussions about facade might involve concerns about transparency, honesty or accountability.
