What is a Whistleblower?

A whistleblower is an individual who discovers and reports on the wrongdoings of a business, organization or individual. While the exact terms vary from state to state, every state has laws protecting whistleblowers from retaliation.

There are four types of protections in place to ensure whistleblower protection, including witness and refused participant, internal report, threat to report, and external whistleblower protection.
