What are Grants?

Grants are financial awards given by governments, organizations, foundations, or individuals to support specific projects, initiatives, programs, or activities. Grants are typically given to such recipients as nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, municipalities, businesses, or individuals.

In the context of city council meetings, city council members might discuss various grant opportunities available from federal, state, or regional governments, as well as from private foundations or corporations. These grants can support a wide variety of programs, such as infrastructure projects, community development programs, public health initiatives, or environmental conservation efforts.
